Episode 31: Beastie Boys / Ill Communication

Tonight, we have for your enjoyment, the fourth studio album from the Beastie Boys. One of Blobs five to the island has him salivating this evening. While much of their early releases relied heavily on sampling, this album continued the trend toward live instruments. Drawing from punk rock, jazz, hip-hop and funk this release went triple platinum. We hope you enjoy this creative and funk laced 1994 release from some of New Yorks finest, the Beastie Boys.

With the passing of the Queen of soul, we wanted to pay tribute to the stellar career of one of the greats. RIP

Episode 30: Queen / Queen

Tonight, we present the first album from the legendary group Queen. Many of our listeners will recognize this band from a number of their huge hits such as Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You. For this episode though, we harken back to the beginning of their career. In this, you hear some of their early influences from progressive rock, hard rock and even some heavy metal. So, without further ado, we will fire up Queen. Kingcow is excited, you should be too.

Episode 29: Molly Hatchet / Flirtin' with Disaster

Our offering this day is Molly Hatchet. A very solid southern rock outfit that utilized a three guitar sound that enhanced the audio and visual such the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd used. Got a chance to see them live and was very impressed with the music, however the lead vocalist was just too hammered to do a good job. I do enjoy their music when I am traveling and if you get the chance, listen to them when you are on the open road and just have fun. Flirtin' with Disaster will not let you down.

Episode 28: Paul McCartney & Wings / Band on the Run

This midweek release comes from one of the icons of the music industry, Paul McCartney. After the Beatles, Paul McCartney formed Wings with his wife Linda and former Moody Blues guitarist Denny Laine. Although as famous as one could get, Paul with Wings did not receive critical acclaim for their first two studio albums. Finally, with the release of Band on the Run, they would find commercial success and begin to top charts in the UK and Australia. For your listening pleasure, we present Band on the Run, from the legendary Paul McCartney with his band Wings.

Episode 27: Orange 9mm / Tragic

This 1994 release was an interesting find. While working in the Santa Barbara area, the Blob ran across this group and had to get this album. It is loud and in your face but comes with a very energetic sound that can lift you up. We hope you enjoy this episode.

For your listening pleasure, we bring you Procol Harum. This goes out to Joe, our first requested album from our listeners. This album goes back a ways, but still carries some interesting weight. Episode 26: Village People / Macho Man

1978 saw the emergence of the wildly popular disco group, The Village People. This group won the hearts of many.  They were formed in New York by newly transplanted French composer Jacques Morali. With international success from the debut album, it became clear a live act was necessary for touring and so began the recruitment. What came was a reflection of Greenwich Village in the mid 1970's and the raging disco scene of the time. Here for your listening pleasure and maybe some cool dance moves is Macho Man from the Village People. 

Episode 25: Foghat / Fool for the City

The end of July closes out with the 1975 release by the hard rocking UK band Foghat. The Blob thought a nice Slow Ride out of July would be appropriate. It still stands out as the best album in the group's catalog because it matched their road-tested abilities as hard rockers to a consistent set of tunes that were both well-crafted and ambitious. We hope your ears find the quality and musical prowess appropriate for the day.
