This 1999 release from the band Incubus offered a change in style from their earlier work. They were now described as nu metal or alternative metal and even funk rock. This was their third release and was certified double platinum producing three charting singles and the song "Drive" breaking into Billboards top 100 at #9. A rather unique sound , we hope you find enjoyable.

Pat Benatar is our featured artist today. What a storied career she has had. Singing her first solo at the age of eight to winning the Grammy for best female rock vocalist in 1983 this rock icon eventually mellowed into a more pop-rock sound later in life and she found even greater success. Kingcow chose this album to present for our listeners. This is Jossie Cotton and her 1982 new wave release Convertible Music. This was her first release and it did chart as high as 155 on Billboard 200. This is an interesting sound and completely fits the new wave genre that was beginning to emerge at that time. In the event you find this enjoyable you can always locate her second release which also had some chartable songs. Have fun.

Moving further into the new year finds us with a fairly open catalog from which to chose. For this episode we are sampling some rather hard metal from CoC. Formed in Raleigh North Carolina in 1982 our album choice is the bands fourth studio album, Deliverance. Breaking into Billboards top 200 Deliverance brought them a modicum of commercial success. With ten studio albums to their name this band brings it. Enjoy.

Moving into the month sees the pop group T'Pau get to the spotlight. Formed in 1986 in Shropshire this band was named after a Star Trek character. Their first hit in the US, Heart and Soul initially flopped in the UK but rose to #4 in the Billboard 100 in 1987. With the synthesizer sound so prominent it is no wonder it is referred to as synth-pop. Not surprising the Blob finds it distasteful. But what does he know. We hope you enjoy this trip back to the mid 80's.

The Blob figured since this was the start of a new year he would venture the music back to a more simple time. For that feat he takes us back to the 1959 release from the legendary Jimmy Reed. Reed was a southern born blues player that created some very smooth and easy to play music that many an aspiring guitarist would come to play and record. We hope you enjoy the simple blues that helped define a genre.

Happy New Year to you all! Thought we might begin 2019 as cheap as possible. So we begin with the 1979 release of the album Dream Police from Cheap Trick. As this was the bands fourth album they began increasing the length of their songs and adding orchestration. This enhanced their music to the tune of this album going platinum within months of its release. SO.... let's get the new year into action with some solid tunes and oddly appropriate rhetoric.
